My novel Heart of Junk was published by Simon & Schuster in January 2020. You can order it here. It received starred reviews from Publishers Weekly and Booklist, was named a Best Book of 2020 on NPR's Weekend Edition, and was praised by such literary luminaries as Al Borland from TV’s Home Improvement.
My short story collection, I am a Magical Teenage Princess, published in 2012, was cited by Roxane Gay in the New York Times as her “favorite book no one has ever heard of.”
My “work” has appeared in Conjunctions, Mid-American Review, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Washington Square, The Comics Journal, Electric Literature, etc.
I release records, clothing, and zines through the Works of Love imprint. My Chick Tract-style defense of The Velvet Underground's Doug Yule and compendium of deeply personal reflections on Halloween TV episodes have received international acclaim. I also make collage art.
I’m from Appleton, WI originally. After living in Wichita for 3 years and Cincinnati for 10, I’ve returned to my home state and currently reside in Milwaukee.
I’m represented by Ronald Gerber at Lowenstein Associates.
